The TV House

This is the one. This is the house I get to say "As Seen on HGTV & DIY Network"!! It was a long journey through months of phone calls and emails. And then one day we had the green light for a pilot. I was on the hunt for a property, all the while getting asked almost daily if I'd found a house yet. Once I'd found the perfect house in-need, it was go-time with 60 days to finish an ambitious project. So now, meet The TV House!

This is a mid-50's ranch house in south Scottsdale. It's in a great area. The schools are good. The parks are close. And Old Town Scottsdale, with plenty of restaurants and bars, is within walking distance. Can't compete with the location.

The house itself was a different story. The lot was challenging. When we showed up, there wasn't much curb appeal to speak of. This inside wasn't any better with no upkeep and an unpleasing cookie cutter layout of small rooms. The kitchen didn't flow. The master wasn't really a suite with the small en-suite bathroom. There was a lot of work to do. And not a lot of time to do it.

We made major updates inside and out. The first thing was opening EVERYTHING up. Small rooms turned into a modern open layout. The kitchen was completely reoriented to become a central fixture of the public living area. And we added on a true master suite by pushing the back of the house into the yard. We put together a spa-like bathroom for the master suite that will be a real retreat for the owners.

The updates didn't stop inside. We made big changes to the landscape as well. Up front, we re-architected the yard to add visual interest and get some of that curb appeal and used pavers for the driveway for an entrance befitting the new house. In the backyard, it was important to extend the covered patio and get a mix of grass and desert-native plants for a comfortable environment to sit and enjoy the fire pit.

We did a lot and I had an amazing team of local crafts-people surrounding me to make this happen. I am incredibly proud of how the team came together to make this project happen.
